Students, Schools, or Teachers?

It’s not a secret students skip. Whether it’s in stairwells, bathrooms, other staffs offices, or even leave the building. Who’s to blame? Is it the teachers boring lessons? Or the student's lazy behavior? Coming from a student I can tell you this, skipping usually comes from boredom or not understanding whats being taught. Some students say the reason they find school boring is that they have a short attention span, they are unintrested while others say that they are unable to find the motivation to do their work. Now school isn’t meant to be fun but in order for us to want to learn we need to find entertainment in what we’re doing. If you didn’t like something you were doing would you keep doing it? Chances are if you could take the easier route you would. Some students reported that they would be more interested in doing more engaging, hands on activites not just textbook work, this would make the classroom a more comfertable enviroment having students from all backgrounds working and learning together making our students more social and engaged in lessons. Now I won’t entirely blame teachers though, some students truly are just lazy and aren’t willing to put effort into their work, but do the teachers make it a class worth putting effort into? Not to mention, in order for a lot of classes to be more hands on, that would require more funding or new equipment for certain activities. For starters, proper equipment for journalism, new necessities for math rooms, better art supplies, new textbooks with current information. Feild trips are incentives that are earned and as a student if you are on top of your grades you are able to attend, but those too need funding and there are not a lot of free trips to go on throughout the school year. Once we start going to class, we start putting in the effort, maybe teachers will want to put the effort for more fun things too, even if this means they have to pay out of pocket. Change starts with us students, only if we start putting in effort.
